It's not here as a token for representation's sake, nor is it depicted fantastically, overlooking the challenges and discrimination that having a disability entails. I think the aspect I loved the most is that Rae's disability is represented fairly and accurately here.

Rae didn't compromise on her morals in spite of her choice of man, and there was a redemptive storyline meshed in with the romance that I found well done, too. There was more chemistry between that pairing than what I'd have initially preferred, so after this little mournful salute, I'll add that the endgame pairing worked better, much better. My ship was sunk well and good in this book, and I'm still giving it five stars.īecause I had lots of fun nonetheless, and in the end I think the romance worked the way Intisar decided to write it.
